Subtracting Smaller From Bigger

Concept Explanation

Subtracting Smaller From Bigger

Subtraction can only be performed by subtracting smaller number from bigger number.

Steps to perform the subtraction:

  • Analyse the two numbers
  • First take the bigger number.
  • Write it above the smaller number..
  • Then subtract the smaller number from bigger number.
  • For example let us subtract the smaller number from the bigger number for the following pair of numbers

    65, 43

The two numbers are 65 and 43. On analysing the pair we find that 65 is bigger and 43 is smaller

We will first take the  bigger number 65

We will write 65 above 43 as 43 is the smaller number

We will then perform the required subtraction

    65 - 43 = ?

Non we will perform the subtraction

    The answer is 22.

Illustration 1: For the pair of numbers 84 and 61 which of the following option represents the correct relation
